Martin Acquisition

Location: The project is located south of Ramsey Road and east of Cary Road in the unincorporated Anza Valley area of the County of Riverside.
RCA Area: REMAP Area Plan – Subunit 4 – Tule Creek/Anza Valley, Rough Step 4.
Size: 86.14 acres.
Plant Communities in the area: Chapparal, Coastal Sage Scrub, Desert Scrub, and Grassland.
Species for Conservation: Bell’s Sage Sparrow, Cactus Wren, Golden Eagle, Least Bell’s Vireo, Quino Checkerspot Butterfly, Aguanga Kangaroo Rat, Bobcat, Los Angeles Pocket Mouse, and Mountain Lion.

Importance:

The Martin property consists of approximately 86.14 acres and is located immediately south, north and west of previously conserved lands.

This property was acquired by RCA on June 6, 2016 with MSHCP local development mitigation fees. The property is located within Cell 7330 of the Western Riverside County Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan (Western Riverside County MSHCP).

The Martin property contains important biological resources, including Coastal sage Scrub habitat and Grassland.

Wildlife and Habitat Value:

The subject property is located in a critical conservation area within the Western Riverside County MSHCP, identified as Core 6. This property connects to conserved lands to the north, south, and east.  Conservation of this land helps assemble the reserve for this area and protect important habitat for many species, including Quino Checkerspot Butterfly, Mountain Lion, and Bobcat.
